Spring Concert Program
Spring Concert 2012 featured our growing strings section with "Three Songs of Chopin," Berlioz' "Roman Carnival Overture, Op. 9," "Wassail Dances," Respighi's "Ancient Dances & Airs for Lute, Suite 1" as well as beautiful support for soloist Nicole Water's spellbinding presentation of Morricone's "Gabriel's Oboe" from the motion picture, "The Mission." The concert opened with selections from Bernstein's "West Side Story" and finished with the big band sound of "A Salute to the Big Apple" featuring "Forty-Second Street," Lullaby of Broadway," and, of course, "New York, New York."
Holiday (Concert) Wrap
We rang in the holiday season 2011 with The Bells of Christmas medley (arr. by Bob Krogstad), followed by A Vaughan Williams Christmas, March of the Toys (from Babes in Toyland), and Corelli's Concerto Grosso, Op. 6 No. 8, featuring soloists: Lorraine Crozier (violin), Gloria Kasparian (violin) and Robert Case (violincello). We brought the first half of this wonderful program to a close with Calvin Custer's It's Christmastime. The second half of our program featured WSCO favorites: Winter Wonderland, Mel Torme's Christmas Song, O Holy Night, The Christmas Waltz, and, of course, Leroy Anderson's Sleigh Ride.
